What I'm reading now...

Cheaper & Better Homemade Alternatives to Store bought Goods. by Nancy Birnes. The copywrite on this thing is 1988. It is a treasure found at our new library. This book is so awesome, I've added it to my purchase list. It has recipes for making tons of things that we normally buy. The purpose of the book is to make convenience items at home saving money. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrifty. But for me the major appeal of this book is that I know every single raw ingredient going into my mixes. Especially the quick cooking mixes - like a bisquick kind of substitute that mixes up anything from waffles to biscuits in a flash. Or freezer jams, scented sugars and many more... even fabric softeners.
